The Old Island Stamp Company

Autumn 2006

STAMP DRAW WINNER:   I am pleased to announce our latest stamp draw winner is Kim Fulcher of Parksville, British Columbia.   Congratulations to Kim!  Kim was actually the third person picked by the computer.  The first two notices I sent out came back 'undeliverable', because the addresses did not exist any longer.  The proliferation of spam has caused many people to discard their old addresses and take other evasive measures.  All of which has made trying to maintain an e-mail list an exasperating experience! ...but I digress...(already!)  The new stamp draw is ready to go.  To enter the Draw, click on [Home] above, and then on Stamp Draw on the Home page.  The prize this time is an "Emily Christmas Medley".  Check it out and Good Luck!

'THE FINE PRINT':
Please note, now that it is three months between draws, make sure you only enter once during that time.  We had a lot more duplicates this time, and I cannot pick someone who has entered twice or three times...it is not fair to everyone else.  Also we still have a lot of people putting their e-mail address as their first name, and I disqualify those too.

AROUND THE STUDIO:  This is a bare bones newsletter for number of reasons, some of which I will expand upon in the new year, as the nature of our business is going to undergo some dramatic changes in the New Year.

Following up on "Sentry Man" from the last newsletter; suffice to say that I stuffed myself daily for three weeks with fresh plumbs, and dried over 450!

Emily (in cyberspace) and Bonnie will take care of your on-line orders while we are on the road.  It will be a skeletal coverage in the studio, so it may take a little longer to get your order processed.  So, shop early to avoid disappointment.  Also please note that we have made changes to our minimum orders, etc.  The changes are outlined on the Canadian and US price code pages, which are accessed through the How to Order page.

We have organized a real treat for those of you attending The Art Market Christmas Show in Calgary this year.  Emily Hull is going to join us to make cards right in the booth for four days.  You will have an opportunity to witness the master at work!  I cannot wipe the smile off my face just thinking about how some of you are going to be standing there with your mouth hanging open when you watch this creative dynamo at work.  She is inspiring, and some of you might want to make sure you have arranged for a Designated Driver.  That way you can get stamping as soon as you get back to your car.  Remember; we encourage responsible stamping.   Each original card she creates will be for sale as she completes them.

MARGARET'S MUSINGS:  If you have had an opportunity to see our display at anytime over the past several years, you would have seen sample cards by our friend Margaret Appleton.  Margaret is always trying something new, and comes up with some great effects with our stamps.  She has agreed to write a short piece for each newsletter on stamping in general and on techniques slightly beyond the basics.

[I did not think I was going to get any newsletter out before we left for the Christmas shows.  So, I told Margaret not to do an article!  Sorry about that.  - Steve]

THE WEBSITE I have added one more Christmas stamp to the Latest Images page, Emily's Christmas Elf.

Where to Find Us is up-dated with the latest Christmas show information, including our booth numbers for each of the shows and links to the show websites where you can download coupons for a lower admission charge at the door

The feedback on the tulip collage from the Drawing Board was very positive and encouraging.   I have put another of Emily's new images on the Drawing Board.  We call it organic snowflake, and we are not certain if we are going to develop it or not.  So, we are very interested in what you think.

As I write this it seems awfully early to be wishing you the very best of the coming holiday season, but I will not be writing until the new year.  So, I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday.  Thank you for making 2006 another great year for us.

Happy Holiday Stamping!    - Steve Mueller
